A run for the pond - or, well , a slow hop and crawl...

Its the time of the year when amphibians are on the move again to find some water to spawn in. Found this big Common toad, Bufo bufo, and a Palmate newt , Lissotriton helveticus. Be careful driving between dusk and dawn or even walking in the dark to not kill those lovely creatures.









Not too long until my 'secret' pond on the Commons will be full with newts again. It is only a small pond but in springtime you can't see the water for newts, all busy doing their courtship dance to get ready for mating and laying eggs.
