It is middle of the summer and the yearlings are doing well, but without their almost tame mum they have become much shyer and it had become much more difficult to see them. They are still displaying typical beaver behaviour like scent marking at the edge of the river.
We did a little trip to Germany and saw some of the Bavarian beavers which have made their home in a big swimming lake as well as the wetlands along a river. One particular one amused us by having a break from its beaver business and observing us for quite a few minutes . Not sure who was more intrigued - us watching the beaver or the beaver watching us.
Little bonus: if you listen closely you can hear the Little egrets doing their breeding-territorial call in the first clips. I think it sounds like Donald Duck.
